Kiffin to the NFL?

Sports host Colin Cowherd on Friday pitched the idea of Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin leaving college football for a return to the NFL by taking the head coaching job with the Miami Dolphins.

At the moment, Mike McDaniel is still the head coach. General manager Chris Grier and the Dolphins parted ways Friday.

Kiffin coached the Oakland Raiders in 2007 and finished with a 4-12 record. He was 1-3 in 2008 when owner Al Davis fired him.

Win to stay in

With Mississippi State eliminated (and announcing a new coach afterward), that leaves the Rebels and the Golden Eagles needing wins today to advance to the Super Regionals. A loss ends the season.

CORRECTION: Updated TV assignments for each game. NCAA did not have that information this morning.

No room to lose

At this point, the Bulldogs, Rebels and Golden Eagles must win the rest of the way to advance to the Super Regionals. That’s not only two today but one tomorrow. Only one game today for Mississippi teams gets regular television treatment while the rest of the games will be streamed.

Time to play the games

7:15 p.m. update: Mississippi State is now scheduled to start play at 8:05 p.m.

6:23 p.m. update: Southern Miss won’t start until 7:06 p.m. Mississippi State won’t start until at least 8:30 p.m. since the first game in the Tallahassee Regional is still ongoing after a couple of weather delays.

4:05 p.m. update: Game one of the Tallahassee Regional is in a rain delay, which could push back State’s game past 6:30 p.m.
